How to Install and Adjust the Springfield Marine Trac-Lock™ Cable-Activated Slide System

Published: August 19, 2025

Introduction

The Trac-Lock™ Cable-Activated Slide System from Springfield Marine is engineered for maximum adjustability, smooth operation, and secure positioning. This system allows remote activation of both slide and swivel functions via cable-actuated controls, making it ideal for high-performance marine seating.

Proper installation is critical to ensuring safe and reliable performance. This guide walks you through the steps required to install the slide system and fine-tune the cable and lock mechanisms.

Trac-Lock™ Cable-Activated Installation Instructions

⚠️ WARNING: Failure to follow these instructions may result in improper locking of the swivel mechanism, which could lead to serious injury or death.

Step 1: Avoid Sharp Bends in Cable Routing
When mounting the slide system, ensure that all activation cables are routed cleanly without any sharp bends, kinks, or tight loops. Improper routing can reduce performance or compromise the locking function.

Step 2: Mount the Cable Controls Securely
Cable Activation Controls must be securely mounted to a stable surface on the seat structure. Loose or flexible mounting points can impair activation.

Step 3: Adjust Slide and Swivel Cables After Installation
Once the slide assembly is installed on the seat bottom, both the slide and swivel cables may require precise adjustment:

Slide Cable Adjustment:

  • Ensure that the Slide Latch (01) is flush with or slightly below the Swivel Lock Teeth (02).
  • If adjustment is needed, loosen the Jam Nut (03) and rotate the Slide Adjustment Nut (04) toward the slide end cap until the latch aligns properly.

Swivel Lock Pin Adjustment:

  • Use the provided gauge (see fig. 1) to measure the position of the Swivel Lock Pin (05).
  • The pin should protrude so that it is flush with or slightly beyond the face of the gauge toward the swivel cup center.
  • If adjustment is necessary, loosen the Jam Nut (06) and rotate the Swivel Adjustment Nut (07) away from the swivel to extend the pin.

Best Practices for Safe Installation

  • Always test the seat rotation and sliding functionality before regular use.
  • Confirm both lock mechanisms engage securely and consistently.
  • Inspect cables periodically for wear or tension issues.
